A Kindred Tale

Part 1
In the mid of night the mansion stood,
through trees and swaying grass
rooted in the woods of sanctum
'neath the moon's pallid cast
its spires reaching unto the sky
like the blackened claws of darkness-gasping
the falling shards of starlight
by the whim of everlasting life

stirred the servants now inside
the manor in wait, pillars white
granite, by the black floor reflected
stone statues placed, perfected
a reception of red-robed paths and stairs
led unto halls, and gardens-fair
the ceiling loomed aloft, starlight it draws
the window-gazing unflawed
at the night and her beauty

arose the faint glow of candle light
the ghouls of Leth and Ashtrin preparing by night
for masters that lay in rest by day
in the dark where sun be banished

candels clung to the pale cold walls
their hardened wax from burning's past
the squalling gloom of silent halls
save the wind past panes of cloudy glass

this haunted flow and fall
of the whispers of spring's newborn night
the carriage and four
black and adorned
the leather bridles light

the gilded silver reins
and bits-clinking in wait
these beasts of beauty
standing calmly
amid the rought iron gates

and beyond the thick forest lay it's knotted fingers bare
the centuries that etched them

And Arose two kindred from their sleep
black and crimson dressed
their predator instincts now ran deep
darkened urges strong by rest
their coffin lids, with easy they slid
darkvision by feral eyes
senses and presence replete
vampiric feats by day's demise

unto a fervent forever
Leth and Ashtrin
companion of ages

the childeren of night, united in plight
by the dark father's curse and blessing
(so sayeth the wise) perspective to sight
the ones of darkness pressing
'gainst the shadows, rest they lay
eternal - frozen in death by nightfall
by the lure of blood-filled veins
the warm pulse whispers its call

lo the hunter spirit
poised to strike 'neath midnight skies
to play this masquerade
content to prey on the weak of mind and nature
To writhe the light and take by night
their vitae swathed in rapture

Part 2
Departed them
lithe amid moon and jewel
to an ushered carriage
through the forest
in swaying
in thought
in contentment
luna's path, wove through branches
in lurid shards of coldness
the wilder wherein creatures nocturnal sense kinship
by black journeys to whither life thrives
and dies by dark nature
thus the feral sinews long
unebbing by a crimson thirst
and beheld the journey at an end
and their lust amassed
'pon quiet streets as townsfolk passed

by the visage of thought-projected and auras recieved
Ashtrin,
mistress of night,
maiden of dark,
come for thee

a fell wanderer, lulled in awe
to the arms of a deathly angel
by the beast subdued in rythm
drunk from the fountain of life

yet darkness sought rarely to death
lest one become e'er thirsty
this moral, bequeathed, then left
the path traversed, the thirst sated.
sinews renewed, dark gifts empowered
the journey, onward 'neath a clouding sky
the streets now laden with silence
save horses' trot 'pon cobblestone nigh
and so to a glade they came at last
the ominous scent of rain
for lustrus thoughts they shared in mind
'ere the dawn in dream they lay

the thought passed in silence,
in heightened senses
the enraptura (blood ritual) commenced
a perpetual feed where brushed askew the sands of time
for a fountain of paradisial draught

the tides of rapture garbed unto kindred vitae
floweth the tranquility of ages
where time is nought

hours passed

yet the bond - somberly emancipated as the sky slowed to a crawl
and light grew and darkness receded
the elders knew fear and called of their ebon kin
that they may hide in the dark of coach
their strength profound, that fortitude may prevail
'gainst the chafing-bitterness of day
alas the rising sun demanded their deaths forthwith

Part 3
the flapping of ravens
two side by side
this form be their haven
these childer of night as the hated-sun's rays
conspire to erase
these creatures of darkness
and immortal grace
but the thick ashen clouds
sustains their guise,
their glint ebon wings
that spread out
neath the sky
the dawn had come
and lated they were
for forms of beast or bird
only endured
the light of day-obscured

by the darkened sky
onward they flew
their restrictions defied
as their journey ensued
the haven by day,
midst woodland enchantment
in silence it lay
the gray stone tormented
by the passing of seasons
knew the mausoleum
and flew unto it did they

thus their legacy continues
the perils defied
eternity spared
a kindred tale
